Aussies Shudder To Think Of Dentists!
A study shows that many Australians, particularly the middle-aged ones, are very fearful about dentists. They have not had their teeth examined for more than a decade. It is unbelievable and at the same time ridiculous to me. But it is a stubborn fact. The study found adults aged between 40 and 64 years were the most scared of dentists. Women were generally more scared than men. 21 per cent of women and 12 per cent of men reported they feared the dentist. Another interesting study which is conducted by the University of Adelaide, fear of going to dentist may be because of a person's age, sex and family income. In this connection, researcher Jason Armfield said the study found 31 per cent of Australians, who reported "high levels" of fear, had not seen a dentist for more than 10 years. Don't you think all the facts and figures are neither in the favor of dentists nor in the favor of Aussies. I believe, it must be addressed immediately and the sooner the better. Dentist should get to the bottom of the cause of the fear and help them purge of it.
